Your Questions Answered

Am I eligible for low-cost IVF?

Eligibility is simple with us. There is no financial means test, so your household income does not impact your eligibility.

We require the female partner to have a valid Medicare card.

We currently do not offer sperm or egg donor services at First Step Fertility.

Each patient’s needs are assessed on a case-by-case basis, so please don’t hesitate to book a free consultation so we can understand your personal situation. If needed, we can also help refer you to the right course of care.

When should I see a fertility clinic like First Step Fertility?

Typically, we recommend you seek medical advice if any of the following apply:

  • If you are under 35 and haven’t fell pregnant after a year of trying.
  • If you are over 35 and haven’t fell pregnant after six months of trying.
  • If you have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility by your doctor.
  • If you have a known cause of infertility.

If you’re not sure if these apply to you, feel free to contact our Fertility Advice Centre on 1800 111 373 for personalised advice.

How does the process work?

If you’re ready to seek help to fall pregnant, the first step is to book your free, no-obligation fertility consultation.

At your consultation, one of our specialist staff will talk to you about your fertility journey so far and answer your questions about the process.

Once you’re ready, the next step is to do some fertility testing — wherever possible these tests are bulk-billed.

Unlike many other clinics, there are typically no out-of-pocket costs until you decide to start a cycle.

I have another question, who can I speak to?

Our free Fertility Advice Centre is always ready to answer any questions you might have.

You can call our friendly staff on 1800 111 373 or email fertilityadvicecentre@firststepfertility.com.au
