If you’re considering In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), you might think it’s a treatment that needs a big financial investment. Happily, that’s not true! When you’re comparing IVF providers, it’s important to consider bulk-billed IVF costs to make sure you’re not paying more than you need to.
In this article, we’ll clear up some misunderstandings about how much IVF costs and explain how we make treatments more affordable at First Step Fertility.
About Bulk-Billed IVF Costs
At First Step Fertility, we work hard to keep your IVF costs as low as we can without cutting any corners on the quality of your care. We do this by bulk-billing your treatment wherever possible. This means that if you have a Medicare card and meet our medical criteria, the majority of your treatments will be covered, just like they would be at your local bulk-billing GP.
Our services at First Step Fertility include IVF and ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) cycles, both of which are bulk-billed. Some hidden fees you might find at other clinics include include registration fees, charges for freezing your additional embryos, and charges for blastocyst culture. At First Step Fertility, we do not charge for any of these services. Plus, if your IVF cycle results in a number of additional embryos, we offer free storage fees for the first 6 months.
We don’t assess your income to decide how much you pay. This means you can take full advantage of all Medicare rebates, no matter how much you earn each year.
Is Bulk-Billed IVF Free?
It’s important to know that while bulk-billing makes IVF cheaper, it doesn’t make it free. Our team at First Step Fertility pride ourselves on transparency when it comes to informing you about any out-of-pocket costs.
Although we bulk-bill all items that are covered by Medicare in your IVF treatment cycle, some out of pocket costs can include day surgery costs, PBS co-payment medication costs, some pathology tests, and a mandatory counselling session (for VIC patients only). For more information, you can find a useful breakdown about these here.
To make your journey even easier, we offer interest-free payment plans through Humm for any out-of-pocket costs. Furthermore, if you are in NSW, you may be eligible to claim a rebate for fertility testing and fertility treatment. To learn more, click here.
